Improving Your Credit Score
Most people don’t know that their credit score is bad or what is a good credit score till they go to a bank, a credit union or a mortgage company to get a loan. The reason for having a bad credit score could be that the credit bureau from which the credit score was taken had not updated their records or that a credit company did not provide data on time or that there is a mistake in an account. Like the social security number is incorrect. But these are errors that can be corrected by calling up the credit bureau and informing them of the mistake or calling up the credit company and asking them to send updated records to the credit bureau.
In USA the credit score is very important for getting a mortgage loan, a car loan or even a job. So maintaining a good credit score is important. But what if one does have a bad credit score there are ways to improve credit score. First one should see the reason or reasons for the bad credit score. One reason could be that one is always late on making payments if that happens to be the case then they should either get the payment due dates rescheduled with the credit companies or should make sure that payments are made on time. Another reason could be that one is either using a very high percentage of their credit limits or habitually burst the limit. One could also be juggling their payments between credit companies or just paying the minimum balances and leaving a major portion to be carried over into the next payment cycle. Taking out too many credit lines is also bad and one should not try and get too many credit cards. Another way of improving your credit score is by making less cash payments and more through checks especially in the case of major payments like rent, or car loans or student loans or mortgage payments. Also the longer the credit history is there are less chances of a credit score being affected due to a late payment. For instance one late payment out of 30 would have a lower effect then one late payment out of two.
